About Zachary
Zachary Scruggs is an actor, musician, and producer living in Los Angeles (Non-union). He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) to earn a B.F.A. in Acting.
He has always had a passion for entertaining and bringing a smile to those around him. Zachary discovered what he wanted to do in life at a young age. Like many, his sense of humor came from his family, and the subsequent quest to return the gift of laughter to those that had made him laugh. The first time he made his father laugh with one of his original jokes was a crucial moment in his life. It became the catalyst that would subsequently change the course of his entire life.
Zachary didn't even realize this path until his Junior year of high school when his friend persuaded him into auditioning for their class's show in a one-act festival. He was awarded a small part as a waiter with just a few lines, but that quickly became a unique character that was entirely his own creation. And he even managed to work in a musical number!
It was spontaneity, commitment, and that special Scruggs' sense of humor that Zachary brings to rehearsal that causes directors to say "I love that, keep it!". The collaborative energy, expressive possibilities, and sense of liberation and catharsis that make up the theatre-making process are what cemented in his mind that acting was what he wanted to pursue.
